Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park in Tanzania was established in 1952. It is home to the greatest wildlife spectacle on earth – the great migration of wildebeest and zebra. The resident population of lion, cheetah, elephant, giraffe, and birds is also impressive. The park covers 5,700 square miles, (14,763 square kilometers) –
It is the migration for which Serengeti is perhaps most famous. Over a million wildebeest and about 200,000 zebras flow south from the northern hills to the southern plains for the short rains every October and November, and then swirl west and north after the long rains in April, May and June. So strong is the ancient instinct to move that no drought, gorge or crocodile infested river can hold them back.

Ngorongoro Caldera
Ngorongoro was once a massive shield volcano that collapsed to form the world’s largest unbroken caldera, 14 miles across and 2,000 feet deep. A collapse caldera is formed when magma is emptied from the volcano’s chamber, and then the unsupported rock roof collapses. The result is a large crater like we see in Ngorongoro. There are other shield volcanoes around Ngorongoro, the majority being extinct.
Ngorongoro Crater is often times known as the “Crater of Life” because of its rich vegetation, wildlife, and anthropological importance. Dense and diverse wildlife populations. This unique geological formation has allowed animals to thrive within its ecosystem, and attracted tourists from all over the globe.

ZANZIBAR
ZANZIBAR ISLAND
The people of Zanzibar have their roots in the Tanzania mainland as they were actually brought to the island by slave traders. Tanganyika supported the revolution movement of the people of Zanzibar during their fight for independence 1963.
Stone town, part of Zanzibar City, is an old trade center, with mosques and winding lanes. The 1883 House of Wonders is a former sultan’s palace with a clock tower. The Old Fort now houses a cultural center and a stone amphitheater.
You’ll enjoy clear, turquoise-blue water; shallow sandbars perfect for wading; and many small, nearly deserted islands virtually unvisited by tourists.
Zanzibar is also known for its spices that grow very well here.
